Making My First Quilt

Hey there all my crafty friends! I just wanted to let you know that if you think you
can't, well.....think again! Because you can do anything you desire, just put your
heart into whatever you are crafting!

I'd recommend taking a class before you tackle something like quilts though. There's
a lot of things one needs to know like little tips about putting them together. Most are
easy time savers! I've learned so many neat things since taking this class. It also helps
to have a great teacher who's been sewing and quilting for many years.

Meet Kathy my teacher (left) and myself. She's great gal and
makes learning how to quilt super fun!

Here's the rest of our class. Busy building there quilt's at there own pace.

The day is done. I have some re-work to do as you can plainly see. I have my proud
accomplishment displayed for my hubby to see it when he gets home from work.

I'm quite happy with how it's coming along! And love the happy bright colors of spring!

Please come back and see the finished version.

Check out my favorite little shop and classes in Boulder City, Nevada!

Thanks for visiting and please leave a comment.

Until next time, Happy sewing and crafting!

Love Anita

Easter Bunny Trifles

I certainly hope everyone's Easter was a nice one spent with friends and family. I wanted to share with you guys this fun and cute recipe that Bert and I made today. It was a success! How ever I noticed that I have left my fat finger print on the bunny's ears it was an extra trifle left over. Oh well.......it is what it is! Background flowers courtesy of our local dollar store.

Recipe I used was
1 box brownie mix follow instructions and cool.

Using a double boiler, heat 2 cups heavy whipping cream on low heat and 1 Tbsp granulated sugar. Please don't scald! Add 8 oz semi sweet chocolate chips, then mix together. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or nice and chilled!

Crumble brownies in desert cups/bowls, add mixed thawed berries, I used raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and blueberries. Spoon chocolate cream over berries.

For Bunny Cookies:

A simple sugar cookie recipe without the sugar coating on top. Bunny was a cutout from a hand made template and dipped into melted semi sweet chocolate chips and place on top!

They were so yummy too!

I Promise To Blog Weekly

Well some how the month of March is already behind us. I didn't post a single thing either! So leave it be and from this moment forward I pledge to at least post something on a weekly basis. I suppose I'm trying to make up for lost thoughts and idea's that travel around inside my head. Some stick to the surface while others get lost in translation and fall to the wayside, never to be found again!

Here you see I made this cute little wallet , using one of my favorite fabric suppliers Moda.
Embellished with silk trim, velvet yoyo and a large vintage peach button!

I have turned some idea's into real progress. I did attempt and accomplish new projects, some were challenging.  One was a Hello Kitty birthday cake, in which I only had a paper template and a picture to go on. I thought it turned out very good considering what I had to work with.  Another was silk beverage coasters, too squirmy working with silk.

The most challenging, difficult and fun to do was a quilt block, titled Lady of the Lake. I made as a swap gift. I was extremely proud that I finished it and loved the colors and print. Will I do it again? You betcha I would, but only to keep it for myself.

I will make another one soon and put up a tutorial on my blog here! I also plan on making other quilt blocks learning new patterns and methods.

That's about it for March.  I hope you enjoyed this post and stop in again.

My First Versatile Award!

I've never received an award before, but yesterday I was awarded The Versatile Blogger so I am thrilled to receive it! I love blogging, it's fun learning and rewarding to show off your creations!

Okay now I have some things (rules) to share with you guys...

2. Tell seven things about yourself.
3. Award fifteen recently discovered new bloggers.
4. Contact them and let them know they've recieved the award.

1. First of all "Lots o Love" to Rita Jean over at Country Maverickess, a blog intended for your crafty eyes only!

2. Seven Things about Me, you didn't know:

- Helped comfort a very sick kitty that showed up on our doorstep recently. Tried to get her to eat and drink, but we all knew she was too far gone. She lost the battle and left us on April 2, 2011. I loved her for a very short time as she greeted us every morning with a purr. I named her Heaven because of her sweet personality and that's where she is now!

- Discovered Steampunk jewelry and bought some.

- Married to the greatest, sweetest man in the world.

- Slave to Truffles my kitty, he has trained me well!

- Recently signed up for a quilting class. Friday is class #2

- Enjoy Hosting Family Dinner parties and Holiday celebrations.

- Helping hubby renovate and remodel our 1941 home.

I will be notifying all those today to let them know of the awards given. Thanks for
taking a peek at my blog. I would love to hear from you, so please leave me
